“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favours” (Luke 2:14)
For the four weeks of Advent, our hopeful voices sing, “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”, and at last, at the glorious birth of our Lord and Saviour, we joyfully proclaim, “Emmanuel, God is With Us! Yes, our Lord is so close to us, he stands by us granting us his strength when we need it the most.
Christmas tells us the love story of God and his incredible gift, Jesus himself, to us-his children. It calls us to rekindle our inner hope, find strength in faith, and look beyond current hardships, seeing Jesus's birth as the ultimate light and assurance for humanity. Christmas is the story of hope, peace and joy. It is a story of a baby born to a young mother Mary, Mother of God, and this baby was given to the custody of a foster father, Joseph. They were reassured that this child was the one foretold by the prophets: the Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6) He may not have been the gift the world was expecting, but believe it, His birth is the best news the world has ever heard.
At times when we feel as though we have been walking in darkness, we are reminded of the words of the great prophet Isaiah: “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land of deep darkness—on them light has shone” (Isaiah 9:2).
May this light from our Lord, fill our hearts with his peace, joy and love. Jesus’ light will shine and we will know that our God is always constant, unwavering and faithful.
"As we celebrate Christmas 2025, let us embrace our role as 'Pilgrims of Hope' during this Jubilee Year. May the infant Jesus rekindle our faith and guide us to be agents of peace, offering kindness and love in a world longing for connection, transforming our struggles into shared strength."
May the baby, born in Bethlehem, bless you and your loved ones.
Together with the parish staff, we wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.
